Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University volleyball team wrapped up day 2 of the CIAA Roundup with a victory over the Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls on November 1 in Daniel Gymnasium. The final score of the match was 3-1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-11).
VSU rounded out the weekend with a 15-8 overall record, 10-3 in the CIAA conference.
Rookie
Tiara Ramey (Grovetown, GA) led the game with 22 kills while junior
Dierdre Carter (Winchester, VA) chipped in 16 kills.
The Trojans battled back and forth for the lead in set 1, but the Golden Bulls took control after breaking the 13-13 tie.
VSU took charge of the game for the remaining 3 sets by keeping JCSU under 20 points.
The Trojans will take the court against the Lady Lions of Lincoln University on Tuesday, November 3 in Daniel Gymnasium at 6pm.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks.
The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
