Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - The Virginia State University Volleyball took a 3 set lose to the Chowan University Lady Hawks on Oct.8.
The Trojan move a 8-7 overall record, 4-2 in the CIAA conference, 2-1 in the Northern Division.
VSU had three game leaders with rookie
Sydney Uko leading with 12 kills, junior
Diamond Simpson with 17 assists and junior
Adriana Hazou with 21 digs.
The Trojans led in scoring for majority of set 1. Chowan rallied back with the score tied 19-19 to collected numerous kills over the Trojans. The final score of set one was 22-25. Set 2 mimicked set 1 as VSU took the lead. Last minute mistakes by the Trojans cost them the set with a final score of 23-25. The Hawks swooped in and took set 3 with a final score of 18-25.
The Trojans will be traveling to Lincoln, PA on Monday, October 12 to take on the Lincoln University Lady Lions at 6pm.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
