Box Score BOWIE, Md.- The Virginia State University Trojans Volleyball Team advances to a 10-7 overall record, 6-2 in the CIAA and 4-1 in the Northern Division after defeating the Bowie State University Bulldogs, 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-13, 25-19) on Oct. 15.
Junior
Alexsys Pullen (Troy, MI) took the helm of the game with 12 kills followed by rookie
Sydney Uko (Hacienda Heights, CA) with 10 kills. Sophomore
Miranda Bass (Newberry, FL) jumped in with 33 assists over the Bulldogs. Junior
Adriana Hazou (Woodbridge, VA) tallied 12 digs and secured 4 aces.
The Trojans held the lead in set 1, until the Bulldogs rallied back tying the score 23-23. Two errors by VSU cost them the set 1 win. VSU took the court in sets 2-4 with vengeance for the overall victory.
The Trojans will travel to Richmond, VA on Monday, Oct. 19 to take on the Virginia Union University Lady Panthers at 6pm.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
