Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Trojan women's basketball team captured their 20
th consecutive home court win on January 17 by thrashing the Lady Panthers with a final score of 64-38.
VSU shot 38.8 percent (26-67) from the field, 33.3 percent (6-18) from behind the arc and 54.5 percent (6-11) from the free throw line.
Senior
Da'Shae Jones led the game in scoring with 13 points followed by senior teammate
Tiffanie Adair with 11 points. Seniors
Cana Marriott and
Jessica Lyons gave the Trojan 10 points each. Leading the game in rebounds was senior Trojan
DeAnna Waters.
The Trojans never gave the Lady Panthers a chance to take the lead, keeping them down 19-9 with 7:11 left in the half. Jones led the first half, making majority of her points by securing 3 of 4 shots from behind the arc. Waters stayed near the basket collecting 8 rebounds. VSU went into halftime in the lead 29-17.
The Lady Panthers drove to the basket several times in the second half, but missed their mark giving the Trojans an advantage. VSU grasped a 20 point lead with 3:00 left in regulation. The Trojans would gain 6 more points to finish the game 64-38.
The win was earned with 34 points in the paint and 18 points off of turnovers.
The VSU women will be back in action on Wednesday, January 21 in Daniel Gymnasium to take on the Chowan University Hawks. In honor of gender equity and Title IX, tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
