Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Virginia State volleyball team earns two victories over Winston-Salem State (3-2) and Livingstone (3-1). With the wins, the Trojans improve to 6-4 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.
In game one for the Trojans, Winston-Salem State took the first set (25-15). However, Virginia State answered back to take set two and three, (27-25, 26-24) before the Lady Rams stole the fourth set, (28-26). The Trojans were able to secure the fifth and final set, (18-16).
Dierdre Carter tallied 15 kills and nine digs followed by
Alexsys Pullen with 14 kills.
Miranda Bass chipped in a game-high of 34 assist and
Adriana Hazou tallied 16 digs.
Against the Lady Bears of Livingstone, the Trojans dropped the first set, (27-25) but managed to recover to win the next three sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) to secure the victory.
Dierdre Carter led the way with 16 kills, following
Brianna Small with 15 kills and
Alexsys Pullen with 13 kills.
Miranda Bass tallied a career-high and game high of 49 assist while
Adriana Hazou chipped in 16 digs.
The Trojans will wrap up the weekend against Johnson C. Smith. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
