TROJANS THRASH BOWIE STATE, 3-0

Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University volleyball team thrashed the Bowie State University Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-19; 25-12; 25-18) Thursday, September 18 in its home opener at Daniel Gymnasium.
 
"We had a great night all around," head coach Rose Burke said. "I'm glad we were able to play several different line-ups and the ladies continued to gel on all cylinders. I'm very excited we got our first conference victory at home before traveling to Richmond next week. I thought we served the better than we ever served before, tonight and hopefully we can continue serving well throughout the rest of the season."  
 
The Trojans (4-3 overall, 1-0 CIAA North) opened the contest, dropping the first two points before taking the next en route to a 25-19 first set victory over the Bulldogs.
 
VSU sucked all the momentum out of the BSU players, holding the Bulldogs to only 12 points in the second set and defeating them by a margin of 13 points, 25-12.   
 
The Trojans had a tough third set, gifting Bowie State 17 points, but defeating them by a margin of seven points, 25-18.
 
The Trojans travel to Richmond Monday, September 22 to face arch-rival Virginia Union University in an in-state matchup at Barco-Stevens Hall. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
