Baseball Takes Three Weekend Wins

| Box Score 3 ETTRICK, VA- Inclement weather and field conditions moved the baseball game against Lincoln University from Lincoln, PA, to Ettrick, VA, March 22 and 23. The Trojans took a three game sweep over the Lions with one game postponed due to rain.
 
On March 22, pitcher Colton Gunn kept the Lions down with a total of 10 strike outs in game one. Zachery Jordan, David Markins (Colonial Heights, VA), and TaShaun Taylor (Richmond, VA) all received RBI's.
 
The Trojans had six stolen bases and 11 hits in game one.
 
The final score was 7-0.
 
The second half of the double header on day one was very similar to the first. Zachery Jordan (Chesterfield, VA) took the mound and collected six strike outs.
 
Nicholas Christopher (Dinwiddie, VA) and Joshua Markins (Colonial Heights, VA) landed double RBI's, while Percy Evan (Cary, NC), William Tapp (Dinwiddie, VA) and Jamison Griffin (Newport News, VA) earned single RBI's.
 
After nine total hits, the Trojans defeated the Lions 7-1.
 
On March 23, the weather only permitted the teams to take the field for one game.
 
Maso Cotton (Vauxhall, NJ) led the Trojans to a 7-2 victory by giving the Lions eight strike outs.
 
Tapp led the Trojans with two RBI's. Taylor, Gunn, Christopher and Tyler Coleman (Chesterfield, VA) all collected single RBI's. Four of the seven runs scored were made in the seventh inning.
 
The three wins gives the Trojans a current 16-10 overall record, 10-5 conference.
 
VSU looks to take on Benedict College at Whaley Colbert Field on March 26 for a double header beginning at 1:00pm.
