ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University volleyball team is set to host Elizabeth City State University for Senior Day, Friday, November 7 in Daniel Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
Seniors being honored are:
MiIndia Mansel;
Imani Wood; and
Brianna Small.
The Trojans enter the contest with a 14-6 overall record and an 11-4 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association record; while the Vikings enter the contest with an 8-15 overall record and an 8-7 conference slate.
VSU is coming off a tough 3-1 loss to Chowan University, Monday evening in Murfreesboro, N.C. and looks to bounce back Friday before entering the conference tournament next Friday, Nov. 14 in Fayetteville, N.C.
Sophomore
Dierdre Carter leads Virginia State and the league in kills per set with 3.78; while ranking third in the league in kills with a total of 291. Fellow sophomore
Adriana Hazou leads the team and ranks third in dig per set with 4.55 and in digs with 350.
Freshman
Miranda Bass leads the team and is fourth in the CIAA in assists per set with 7.53.
The team is tenth in the league in blocks with 110; while being ranked fifth in the league in digs with 1113 total.
ECSU enters the contest coming off a 3-2 victory over Virginia Union University.
The VSU Athletic Department continues its' "1000 Cans, One Goal" campaign initiative at every home game through Friday, Nov. 21. The purpose of the initiative is to support the local food banks in helping feed the less fortunate during the holiday season. Donors are asked to either bring can goods to any VSU Athletic home game (football, basketball, volleyball, and/or cross-country) and/or drop your items off to the Athletic Department.
