ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State volleyball team will conclude its two-match road swing with a date at Bowie State on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. in A.C. Jordan Arena.
VSU enters the matchup owning a 9-4 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference action after winning a 3-1 match at the Lincoln on Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped their last match entering the meeting with an 4-16 overall mark and a 3-8 clip in league play.
Virginia State logged a 3-0 sweep of Bowie State on Sept. 18.
The Trojans was paced by a tremendous offensive performance from sophomore Dierdre Carter on Monday. The Winchester, Virginia, native posted 25 kills on a match-high .239 hitting percentage in the win.
The Lady Bulldogs are led by sophomore India Mason who has tallied 112 kills (1.96 kills per set) on the season. Junior Yaje Ngundam is second on the team with 100.
Defensively, Valerie Taylor is averaging .54 blocks per set while Marissa Martinez has racked up 189 digs.
Carter led VSU with a 13-kill performance in the win against the Lady Bulldogs in September. The win continued an eleven-match winning streak against Bowie State with VSU having won every meeting dating back to the 2009 season.
Senior Imani Wood hauled 11 digs while Freshman Miranda Bass aided 14 assists and sophomore Diamond Simpson collected 10 assists that night.

The VSU Athletic Department continues its' "1000 Cans, One Goal" campaign initiative at every home game through Friday, Nov. 21. The purpose of the initiative is to support the local food banks in helping feed the less fortunate during the holiday season.
