ETTRICK, Va. – After capturing its ninth consecutive victory on the season, the Virginia State University volleyball team is prepared to host The Lincoln University in Daniel Gymnasium, Monday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
The Trojans enter Monday's contest with a 13-4 overall record and a 10-3 record in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Lions set at 3-15 overall and 1-12 in league play on the season.
Sophomore
Dierdre Carter leads the CIAA and VSU in kills per set (3.89); while being third in kills with a 257 total. Sophomore
Adriana Hazou leads the team and ranks third in digs per set with 4.38 and digs with 289.
Senior
MiIndia Mansel leads Virginia State and ranks thirteenth in the conference in blocks per set with 0.67; while Sophomore
Alexsys Pullen ranks eleventh in the conference in serves aces with 0.47. Freshman
Miranda Bass leads the team and ranks fourth in the CIAA in assists with a total of 6.89 per set; while ranking tenth in the league in serves aces per set with 0.43.
The Lincoln Lions enter Monday's matchup after falling 3-1 (18-25; 25-19; 26-28; 20-25) to Virginia Union University on last Tuesday.
The VSU Athletic Department continues its' "1000 Cans, One Goal" campaign initiative at every home game through Friday, Nov. 21. The purpose of the initiative is to support the local food banks in helping feed the less fortunate during the holiday season. Donors are asked to either bring can goods to any VSU Athletic home game (football, basketball, volleyball, and/or cross-country) and/or drop your items off to the Athletic Department.
