ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University football team is set to host The Lincoln University Saturday, October 25 for VSU's 2014 Homecoming game in Rogers Stadium at 2 p.m. General admission is set at $25. Students (visiting students, NOT VSU students), Senior Citizens, and Active Duty Military personnel tickets are set at $15.

The Trojans are 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. VSU takes a five-game winning streak into Saturday's contest after spoiling Bowie State University's Homecoming, 24-14, last Saturday in Bulldog Stadium.

Tarian Ayres ranks second in the conference in yards per game with 212.4; while leading the conference in rushing touchdowns with (5). Junior Kevon Bellamy ranks seventh in the conference in yards rushing per game with (62.3).

Brandon Robinson ranks tenth in the league with 51 total tackles; while fellow senior linebacker
Andre Rawls ranks second on the team in tackles with (43) total; including six tackles for a loss, five pass deflections, six pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two sacks, an interception, and a force fumble.

The Trojans on the year have outscored their opponents 188 to 157; while averaging 26.9 points per game (opponents 22.4). The team has registered 50 more first downs then their opponents as well as averaging more passing yards per game with 213.4 (opponents 172.1). Â VSU (2540) has racked up more total offense than that of its opponents (2260): while capitalizing on 65 percent of its fourth down conversions (11 of 17) (opponents 5 of 14). Â

The Lions enter Saturday's contest 1-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play after being stunned, 27-26 by Elizabeth City State University on their homecoming in LU Football Stadium this past Saturday.

The VSU Athletic Department continues its' "1000 Cans, One Goal" campaign initiative at every home game through Friday, Nov. 21. The purpose of the initiative is to support the local food banks in helping feed the less fortunate during the holiday season. Donors are asked to either bring can goods to any VSU Athletic home game (football, basketball, volleyball, and/or cross-country) and/or drop your items off to the Athletic Department.    Â
