Trojans Rally For Win in Extra Innings Over Clark Atlanta

The Virginia State University Trojans baseball team, kicked off their 2013 season with a road victory. The Trojans rallied for a 10-7 win against the Panthers of Clark Atlanta in 10 innings.

Nicholas Christopher got the pitching start for the Trojans. He threw 5 2/3 innings, striking out six Panthers before leaving the game with the score tied 5-5. VSU then used a combination of Maso Cotton and William Tapp to keep the Panthers bats off balance.  Tapp picked up the win in for the Trojans in relief. Josh Markins had a big day at the plate reaching base safely every time in route to hitting for the cycle. Percy Evans had three RBI's while David Johnson added two more. Nicholas Christopher and Kelvin Davis both had doubles also in the win. This victory is VSU's head baseball coach Merrill Morgan's 197th career win. The Trojans return to action tomorrow for a double header against Morehouse College.
