William Tapp followed with a base hit to left field. The Trojans left two runners on base, as the next batter grounded out into a double play. The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning as Mount Olive score scored one run on two hits. Mount Olive added on another run in the fifth inning before exploding for 10 runs in the dreadful sixth inning.
In the seventh inning,
Percy Evans recorded a single up the middle but VSU continued to trail 13-0.
Rodell Stewart had the Trojans final hit in the eighth inning with a single up the middle. Mount Olive responded with three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, sealing their 16-0 victory.
Five Trojan pitchers faced Mount Olive on the road.
Rico Solomon (1-1) took the loss after his second start of the season. He struck out two batters and allowed only one hit.
