The Trojans opened the match with an 8-1 run while holding the Lady Vikings to no more than 17 points in any of the three sets.

With the victory, Virginia State moves into a tie with Chowan for first-place in the CIAA's Northern Division with identical 6-1 records. The Lady Vikings slip to 6-2 in the Northern Division with two division wins.

The Trojans have won nine of their last 11 (spacing) matches as the team prepares to play at Lincoln on Oct. 28. Virginia State returns home to take on Elizabeth City State on Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m. on Dig Pink (breast cancer) awareness night.
