Latrell Scott earned recognition from the league following Virginia State's 47-44 (3 OT) victory over Bowie State.
With the win over the Bulldogs, the Trojans improve to 6-1, 4-0 in conference play. Virginia State has reeled off five consecutive wins, the most since 2005 and are ranked 10
th in the latest Boxtorow Top 10 HBCU Media Poll.

The young lineman helped provide quarterback protection and opened holes for running backs to enable Virginia State to amass 510 yards against Bowie State in a victory. The Trojans passed for 259 yards and rushed for 251 while scoring 47 points in the triumph.

Justin Thorpe completed 20 of 33 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 28 times for another 182 yards, giving him 441 total yards on the day in a win over Bowie State. His nine-yard TD run in the second overtime sent the game into a third overtime period. His 24-yard scoring pass to Gene Holloman in the final overtime ended the game.

Shawn Hunt booted a 37-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to lift Virginia State to a 27-27 tie with Bowie State. He also connected on a 38-yard attempt and converted all six extra point attempts against the Bulldogs.
