Box Score The Trojans picked up their first CIAA conference victory of the season in a 52-40 win over Johnson C. Smith University. Da'Shae Jones led VSU with 25 points (6-9 3-pt) on the road in Charlotte, NC on Monday, January 14^th.

Da'Shae Jones scored a career-high 25 points in a much needed win for Virginia State. She was 6 of 9 from three-point range and had two steals. Jasmine Stewart led the Trojans with three steals and also had four assists. Lamesha Deal grabbed eight rebounds for VSU and played great defense recording three blocked shots. The Trojans defense held the Lady Golden bulls of Johnson C. Smith University to 26% shooting from the field and 28 turnovers.

Virginia State took a 25-21 lead into the half behind Da'Shae Jones' 12 points. Jones continued to pace the Trojans in the second half adding 13 points. Defensive pressure held JCSU to 19 second half points as the Trojans captured their first CIAA conference win of the season, a 52-40 victory over Johnson C. Smith University.

VSU improves to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the CIAA conference. After a slow start to conference play, the Trojans return home on Saturday, January 19^th at 2:00 pm against divisional opponent Virginia Union University.
