Virginia State University's two rookie student-athletes Joshua Markins (freshman/ Colonial Heights, VA) and Nicholas Christopher (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) were both named to the 2012 CIAA Baseball All-Tournament team, a great accomplishment for the Trojans.

On April 20th the Trojans took on Chowan University. Trojans' pitcher Rico Solomon (sophomore/ Atlanta, GA) took the mound, but got to a rocky start. During the first inning, Chowan scored four runs.

In the second inning, VSU switched pitchers to LHP Nicholas Persad (freshman/ Central Islip, NY) where the Hawks added on five more runs. Then VSU went with RHP Joshua Markins for the rest of the game. Markins struck-out three batters in seven innings.

At the plate VSU had ten total hits, four Trojans recorded two hits each. Infielders Nicholas Christopher, Joshua Markins, Tyler Coleman (freshman/ Chesterfield, VA), and outfielder William Tapp (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) all had multiple hits.

Nicholas Christopher was named as a utility player to the 2012 All-CIAA Baseball team, he had a total of five hits, two runs, and an RBI. Joshua Markins was named as a third baseman with a total of five hits.
