RHP Nicholas Christopher (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) set a modern day Virginia State University baseball record, picking up his seventh win of the season in a 5-1 victory for the Trojans over Shaw University in the earlier game of a double-header on Saturday, April 14th . Nicholas struck-out eight batters, allowed three hits, and only one earned run.
The Trojans busted out ten total hits against the Bears in the early game. Outfielder William Tapp (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) and infielder Tyler Coleman (freshman/ Chesterfield, VA) both led the Trojans with two hits each. Coleman also recorded two RBI's, while infielder Joshua Markins (freshman/ Colonial Heights, VA) and outfielder Howard Spencer (senior/ Richmond, VA) had RBI's themselves.
VSU also won the later game 15-6 against the Bears. RHP Rico Solomon (sophomore/ Atlanta, GA) went five innings, striking out eight batters.
