Virginia State University women's basketball team defeated Briarcliff College 69-61 on Sunday, Dec. 16^th in New York, NY. Brianna Holt scored a team-high 13 points, while Lamesha Deal and Alexandria Massado both had 10 points each.
 
Brianna Holt made 4 of 8 shots from the field including three from behind the three-point arc scoring 13 points. The Trojans shot 56% from the field and 42% from three-point land. Lamesha Deal pitched in nailing four of seven attempts from the free-throw line, while Ashley Whitaker made all four of her free-throw attempts.
 
Lamesha Deal had a spectacular game for the Trojans. She recorded her sixth double-double of the season scoring 10 points with 15 rebounds. She also had five steals and five blocks in a great effort. Alexandria Massado had her best game as a Trojan scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high nine rebounds.
 
The Trojans improve to 7-3 after winning their third consecutive road game over Briarcliff. VSU returns to action on Sunday, January 3^rd versus St. Augustine's University. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm in Petersburg, VA.
