Lamesha Deal recorded a career-high 23 points with 14 rebounds in an 84-44 road win for the Virginia State University Trojans against Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY on Dec. 15^th. The Trojans grabbed 72 rebounds and nailed seven three-pointers, both are season-highs.  

Lamesha Deal nailed 9 of 11 attempts from the free-throw line and made 7 of 15 shots from the field in a 23 point outing, her best ever at Virginia State. Jasmine Stewart also reached double-digits with 10 points and she dished out three assists to lead the Trojans.

The Trojans dominated the Mavericks on the boards throughout the game 72-33. VSU had 33 offensive rebounds and scored 26 second chance points. Lamesha Deal had 14 total rebounds (8 offensive, 6 defensive) , while Alanda Petes and Kiara Walton both grabbed eight each.

VSU's Tina Frisby came off the bench scoring eight points with two treys from long range.  She led the Trojans bench as VSU exploded for 41 points compared to 9 by Mercy. Defensively VSU forced 22 turnovers and held Mercy to 22% shooting from the field.

All fourteen Trojans recorded at least a single point in the forty-point win over Mercy. This was the second time this season that Virginia State held a team under 50 points (32 vs. Cheyney 11-17). The Trojans improve to 6-3 overall and will play Briarcliff College in New York, NY tomorrow Dec. 16^th at 1:00 p.m.
