Valiant Effort Falls Short As Lady Broncos Down Trojans 3-2

After winning the first two sets against the #1 seed Fayetteville State Lady Broncos, Virginia State's volleyball team dropped the final three sets 3-2 (25-22, 26-24, 21-25, 20-25, 13-15) and were eliminated from the 2012 CIAA Volleyball Championships on Friday, November 16th at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.

Aubree Parker led the Trojans with 20 kills, while Whitley Bradley had 11 kills and Cherish Richardson added nine kills. The Trojans had 53 total kills including 14 kills in the first set. VSU also had six team blocks led by Brianna Small's two assisted blocks and one solo block. Whitley Bradley and Aubree Parker both scored on service aces in a close game with the Lady Broncos. VSU setter Jasmine Henderson had a game-high 45 assists.

The Trojans recorded 103 total digs a season-high in their final game of the season. Jenessa Shinauld led VSU with 27 digs and Aubree Parker had 17. Whitley Bradley and Jasmine Henderson both had 16 digs each and Cherish Richardson added ten digs.

Second year head volleyball coach Ivana Rich, has guided her 2012 Trojan volleyball team to 14 wins, VSU's most wins since the 2004 season . Five Trojans were named to the 2012 All-CIAA Volleyball Team the most in school history.
