Whitley Bradley (Rs.-So./ Cibilo, TX) served six service aces, nine kills, and 12 digs in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-12) straight-set sweep against Virginia Union University on Monday, October 8th in Daniel Gymnasium on the campus of Virginia State University.
VSU recorded 33 total kills and a season-low seven team errors. Aubree Parker (Jr./ Fort Pierce ,FL) led the Lady Trojans with 11 kills, while Bradley added nine kills, and Nikkisha Walker (Sr./ St. Louis, MO) had six kills. The Lady Trojans' Jasmine Henderson (Jr./ St. Louis, MO) had a game-high 24 assists setting up her teammates.
Defensively, two Lady Trojans hit double-digits in digs. Whitley Bradley had a splendid night leading her team with 12 digs and Jenessa Shinauld (So./ Sacramento, CA) pitched in with 10 digs. VSU's Demera Thomason (Fr./ Chandler, AZ) followed with seven digs and Jasmine Henderson had six digs.
Virginia Union's Kristin Madison had seven kills to lead her team and Ellie Parsons recorded a game-high 17 digs.
The Lady Trojans won their last two games against CIAA Northern Divisional opponents Lincoln and Virginia Union. They improve to 9-8 overall and 8-2 in the CIAA conference. Their next match is against Elizabeth City State on Thursday, October 11th at 6 p.m. inside Daniel Gymnasium.
