Marquel Broussard joined Virginia State University Athletics on March 10, 2026, as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Success and Engagement.
In this role, Broussard provides leadership in enhancing the holistic development of student-athletes, focusing on academic achievement, personal growth, and career readiness. She brings extensive experience in athletics administration, including operations, compliance, and student-athlete development.
Broussard most recently served as Associate Athletics Director for Operations at Florida A&M University, where she oversaw gameday and event management for 14 varsity sports and directed the department’s internship program, aligning experiential learning with academic and career outcomes. Prior to that role, she served as Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Athletics, managing strategic initiatives and overseeing confidential academic, compliance, and financial reporting processes, including foundation accounts exceeding $2 million.
Before her time at FAMU, Broussard was a Compliance Officer at Prairie View A&M University, where she managed NCAA compliance operations for approximately 350 student-athletes. Her responsibilities included eligibility certification, monitoring academic progress, and providing rules education to coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
Broussard spent nearly eight years at Grambling State University in various roles, including Assistant Director for Compliance, Academic/Compliance Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant. She served as a member of the eligibility certification team, supervised study hall programming, coordinated Grambling’s National Letter of Intent program, complimentary ticket process for players and assisted with the preparation of waivers when needed. Broussard also managed a $300,000 athletics book scholarship budget as well asran the Book Scholarship process and Athletics Fuel Station for 300+ student athletes. She began her career at Grambling as Assistant Secretary and Recruiting Coordinator for the football program assisting with correspondences, recruiting visits, meetings, and events on campus.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), the Minorities Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), Women Leaders in Sports (WLS), and the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), and is a 2019 graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute.
A graduate of Grambling State University, Broussard earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Business Management. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she served as president of the Alpha Theta Chapter.
