Taking the helm of the VSU Athletics Sports Communications department, Mrs. Cassandra S. Price was named Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Communications in July 2019.
Prior to being named Assistant AD, Price served the VSU Athletics department for six years holding several titles while upholding the Trojan Pride among VSU’s internal and external audiences.
Immediately after graduating in May 2013, Price became the Assistant Sports Information Director. In August 2013, she became head coach for the world renowned VSU Woo Woo Cheerleaders. After committing her time to cheering as a Woo Woo during undergrad at VSU in 2010-2012, Cassandra was pleased to take on the position.
In July 2015, Cassandra was named Interim Sports Information Director, which she held until February 2017.
Since her arrive to the Athletics staff in 2013, Cassandra has successfully promoted the department to include the achievements of the 2017 CIAA Football Champions and NCAA Playoff appearance, 2018 men's and women's NCAA Regional Playoff appearances, Top 3 CIAA Championship finishes among several sports, numerous conference divisional titles, and the preparation for the 2018 NFL Draft with the selection of Trenton Cannon to the NY Jets.
She has also played a major role is marketing several athletic sponsored events such as the annual VSU Athletic Hall and Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the VSU Athletic Scholarship Golf Tournament and the annual VSU Athletics Alumni Winter Fest that draws a crowd of over 3,000. Since 2018, Price has responsible for bridging relationships with current and potential sponsors for the Athletics Department to include VA Lottery.
Under the umbrella of sports information, Price has used marketing, PR, operations and productions to promote VSU Athletic events in the University’s new $84 million Multipurpose Center.
Along with working diligently in marketing the department, she was committed to upholding the name and legacy of the VSU Woo Woo Cheer squad, from 2013-2019, through academics, community service and Trojans Pride.
A true Trojan at heart, Price is a May 2013 summa cum laude graduate of Virginia State University, receiving her B.A. degree in Mass Communications and is a December 2015 graduate of VSU with her M.A. degree in Media Management.
Prior to VSU Athletics, she was a Web Services and Social Media Assistant for the University Relations and IT Departments at VSU.
Although currently residing in Chester, Va. with her husband Steven and daughter Charli, Cassandra is a proud native of Portsmouth, Va.
