Coach Rasheeda Crews enter her second season as an Assistant Coach for the Virginia State University Softball team.

Coach Crews led her squad to the best record the team has had since the 2014 season as they went 20-13 with a 13-4 conference record. 

Coach Crews led a squad that was scattered throughout the national and conference rankings. The Softball team ranked 10th in the nation (Led Conference) in batting average (Led Conference) (.352), 12th in doubles per game (1.88), 35nd in on-base percentage (Led Conference) (.393), 21st in scoring (Second in Conference) (6.48), 18th in slugging percentage (Led Conference) (.518) 17th in triples (Led Conference) (19) and third in triples per game (Led Conference) (.58). The Trojans ranked third in ERA (3.75), second in hits (213), second in runs (128), second in earned runs (95), second in walks allowed (50) and third in opponents batting average (.285)  Of the 10 players on the team, six players average a .300 batting average or better. 

Coach Smith had five players receive all-conference and had one on the D2CCA First Team. 

Coach Rasheeda Crews found a family in the VSU coaching staff, after graduating from Eastern Mennonite University in 2013. Coach Crews proved to be dangerous with the bat in her hands as she batted .395 in 81 At-Bats in her junior season. She was named All-ODAC Third Team in 2012 and All-ODAC Second Team in 2011. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in Computer Science while minoring in Exercise Science.
