Coach Debra Hood is entering her 2^nd season as the Assistant Coach of the VSU Softball Team.

During the 2019 season, the team placed 2nd in the Northern Division, behind perennial Northern Division Champion, Chowan.  During the CIAA Tournament, the team made it to the semi-finals, losing to the number 1 seed Claflin.

Hood brings athletic experience to the Trojans after coaching boys and girls basketball, football, and softball at the high school level. She also won four state independent schools championships (2011, 02012, 2013, 2014) while coaching at Kenston Forest in Blackstone, VA. 

Hood’s coaching experience was guided through her many years of playing many years in recreation and travel softball traveling all over the country. Hood also played softball alongside VSU’s Head Softball Coach Lynne Gilbert.
