Assistant Coach Jernail Hayes enters her fourth season with the VSU Track & Field Staff.  Hayes is responsible for managing the team’s daily operations; practice schedules, study hall, weight room, team travel, meet management and facilitating the team’s community service efforts.  During the Track & Field Season, Hayes specifically works with the Sprinters and Hurdlers. During the outdoor season, Hayes was instrumental in the success of Daniel Ross, who finished 3rd at the NCAA Championships posting two of his fastest times of the year (50.78 / 51.27) in the 400m Hurdles.
A member of the USA’s 2012 World Indoor Championship Silver Medal 4 x 400m Relay Team (Istanbul, Turkey), Hayes continues to compete at the international level. During the past outdoor season’s Hayes international competition has included Cayman Islands, various cities in Australia, Kawasaki, Japan and Port Au Spain, Trinidad. This past summer Hayes was a finalist in the 400m Hurdles at the USA Track & Field Championships, (Des Moines, IA).

A native of Newark DE, by way of Augusta GA, Hayes will receive her Master’s Degree in Sports Management at VSU, and lives in Petersburg.
