Randy Pulley joined Virginia State University as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach in 2021-22. The 2023-24 season will mark Pulley's third season (and eight overall as a collegiate coach) as an assistant under the leadership of Head Coach Lonnie Blow, Jr.

Since arriving at VSU, Coach Pulley has helped craft a pair of VSU student-athletes (Francis Fitzgerald and Terrence Hunter-Whitfield) to consecutive All-CIAA honors in 2021-22 and 2022-23. In 2022-23, the Trojans finished 17-11 overall and a 10-6 mark in conference play, which earned the Trojans a first-round bye in the 2023 CIAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Coach Pulley’s previous experience includes serving as the Assistant Coach for Shelton State Community College, New Mexico Junior College, Colby Community College, and Talladega College. Randy also spent seven years as a high school Head Coach in his home state of North Carolina.

During his coaching tenure, Randy has received several national and regional championships, and has been an integral part in recruiting and developing elite athletes at the NBA, NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO levels.

As a player, Randy was an “All-American” and leader in scoring, assists, and field goal percentage, earning accolades such as No. 1 Junior College Point Guard (SLAM Magazine), and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, over the course of his career from Saint Louis University, Barton County Community College, and the University of Missouri.
