Allen Harris begins his first season with the Virginia State University Men's Basketball staff as an Assistant Coach.
Harris is a Virginia State University graduate and returns to VSU after serving a year as the Men's Basketball Lead Assistant Coach at Lincoln University. In 2014Â Harris began his coaching career at Richard Bland College. During his one year there he served as the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach.
During his tenure the Boston Native helped guide Richard Bland College to a regular season national ranking as high as No. 3 and a final national ranking at
No. 1. Harris helped Richard Bland to a program record of 32 wins - the most victories in program history, a 19-3 mark in the Region 10 Conference and school’s third Region 10 Championship followed by the programs first ever National Championship. Three players earned All-Region honors and three were also tabbed to the NJCAA All-Tournament team.
At Richard Bland College, Harris was involved in all aspects of coaching, including player development, recruiting, monitoring academics, film breakdown, and opponent scouting and on-court coaching.
Harris played collegiate basketball at Saint Anselm College and at Virginia State University. During his junior season at Virginia State he averaged 10.2 points and 4.0 rebounds-per-game. While at Saint Anselm College, Harris was the 2010-2011 Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year and ECAC Rookie of the Year averaging 17.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest during his freshman year.
Allen Harris is a 2014 graduate of Virginia State University with a B.A in Mass Communications.
