The 2023 season marks Coach Cox's first season on the Virginia State University football staff.
He is a six-year veteran of the Richmond Fire Department and he served as a Mental Health Specialist for Future Generations.
Cox is a former National Football League, NFL Europe, and Canadian Football League player. Cox played for the Scottish Dragons (NFLE), the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL), the F.C. Barcelona Dragons (NFLE), and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL). He played for the Tiger-Cats from 2004 to 2007 and totaled 164 tackles and two interceptions. He originally signed to the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2000 and appeared in five games in 2001 for the Jaguars.
Coach Cox is a native of Richmond, VA, graduating from Huguenot High School, before playing college football at the University of Maryland. Cox graduated from Maryland with a B.A. in Criminology.
