Virginia State University Athletics

Genard Sims is a native of Saint Petersburg, Florida. He is the wide receivers / return specialist coach. He brings over half a decade of coaching , recruiting and public relations experience. He has worked for a variety coach staff such as Florida International University and Florida A&M University.

He played his college football at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a wide receiver . Some of his previous coaching experiences include:
-FAMU Football staff coaching assistant under the direction of Coach D.J. McCarthy (WR coach).
-FIU football staff as a recruiting / wide receiver coaching assistant under Ron Turner (FIU Head Coach).

He was also mentored by Dave Scott who was the Recruiting Coordinator for Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson at the University of Miami during their championship years of 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001.
