Ettrick, Va. (May 8, 2026)- Jerry Goodson has been announced as the new Associate AD for Compliance by Associate Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Tiffani-Dawn B. Sykes

"I am excited to welcome Jerry to Virginia State Athletics," said Tiffani-Dawn B. Sykes. "Having previously worked with him, I know firsthand the professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic he will bring to VSU and our athletics department. As a former CIAA student-athlete and a two-time HBCU graduate, Jerry understands the unique value and impact of the HBCU athletic experience. With the recent launch of our Opendorse partnership and the continued evolution of NIL opportunities across college athletics, his background and experience in NIL education will further strengthen our department and help position Virginia State Athletics competitively within the evolving recruiting landscape."

During his tenure, he also assisted with NIL education initiatives and helped oversee institutional compliance processes across multiple sports.

Prior to Hampton, Goodson worked as the General Athletic Compliance Coordinator at Florida A&M University, where he gained extensive experience in NCAA legislation, student-athlete certification, transfer procedures, waivers, and practice monitoring.
