Front Royal, Va. (Mar. 24, 2026)- The Virginia State Baseball team traveled to Christendom College and won 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon. With the win Head Coach Merrill Morgan earned his 400th NCAA win.

Neither team was able to get a run across in the first inning. Luka Gilliam drew a one out walk in the second which was followed by a Samuel Young single to left field. Matthew May then hit a two out single to bring home the first run of the game. Antonio Boone had a 1-2-3 inning on the mound to get the Trojans back to the plate. Johnathan Smith hit a one out single in the third then stole second base. Boone then single to put runners on the corner with one out. Jaquan Tucker then drew a walk and Gilliam hit a grand slam to put the Trojans up 5-0. Hector Rivera kept the inning going with a single then May hit a double to deep right fielder to bring him home.

Boone continued to keep the Christendom off the board until the fifth inning when an error allowed the first run for the Crusaders to cross home plate. Trey Mitchell then came into the pitch the seventh inning and produced a 1-2-3 inning.
