PEMBROKE, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2025) – The Virginia State University volleyball team split its matches on the opening day of the UNC Pembroke Invitational. The Trojans earned their first win of the season with a decisive 3-0 victory over Albany State University before falling to Wingate University in a hard-fought second match.
In their opener, VSU controlled the pace from the first serve, executing with precision on offense and maintaining strong defensive coverage to secure the sweep.
Despite the loss in their second outing, the Trojans showed resilience and competed from start to finish.
Virginia State returns to action Sept. 13, when they face Eckerd College at 9 a.m. and Coker University at 5 p.m. on the final day of the Invitational.
