Trojan Men’s Soccer Battles to 1–1 Draw at Mount Olive

Mount Olive, N.C. (Oct. 25, 2025)-The Virginia State University men's soccer team turned in a resilient performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a 1–1 draw on the road against the University of Mount Olive at Amon Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Trojans found themselves trailing when Mount Olive's Kayden Richter broke through in the 63rd minute. But Virginia State responded with composure and determination. In the 71st minute, sophomore forward Sebastine Daniel netted the equalizer, finishing off a well-placed assist from Micaiah Agyei to bring the score level at 1–1.

Goalkeeper Elijah Fernandez was a standout between the posts for the Trojans, registering an impressive 13 saves while facing 25 total shots from Mount Olive. His effort helped VSU withstand heavy pressure in the closing minutes as the Trojans' defense stayed organized to preserve the draw.

Alan Powell and Ben Allen each recorded a shot for VSU, while Daniel led the way offensively with two shots on goal. The Trojans managed four total shots and one corner kick on the day, compared to Mount Olive's 12 corner opportunities.

The result moves Virginia State to 1–6–3 overall, while Mount Olive sits at 2–7–6.
