BOWIE, Md -- Virginia State needed a stop inside their own 10 with less than a minute left on Saturday afternoon and got it getting a fourth down stop at the -6 yard line with 33 seconds left to seal the 28-21 win over Bowie State on the road at Bulldog Stadium.
The Trojans improved to 3-3 on the year and 1-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-5 and 0-3.
Rahsaan Matthews Jr. led Virginia State's passing attack with 239 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added 48 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
