Ettrick, Va (Sept. 27, 2024)- The Virginia State University football team returns to the confides of Rogers Stadium to take on the Broncos of Fayetteville State. 

VSU is coming off a heart breaking 15-14 loss to WSSU. Jimmyll Williams and Tylique Ray provided a 1-2 punch in the back field. Williams has rushed for 297 yards while Ray in his first game as a full time running back put up 66 yards and two touchdowns.  Romelo Williams is the starting quarterback for the Trojans as he has 471 yards and two touchdowns this year. Last week defensive lineman Cameron Davis had 15 total tackles and looks to continue to dominate in the trenches. 

Fayetteville State is coming off a dominant performance winning 31-7 against Elizabeth City State. The Broncos have three different players with 20 or more carries to have a balanced attack on the ground. Both quarterbacks for FSU have played in all three games with both completing around 50 % of their passes. Shi Gaskin leads the CIAA in tackles for loss with seven and is fourth in sacks with three. 

The game is scheduled for Saturday September 28  at 2 p.m.and will be streamed on the CIAA Sports Network.
