Ettrick, Va (Sept. 20, 2024)- The Virginia State University football team welcomes Winston-Salem State University to Rogers Stadium this Saturday.
VSU enters the game at 1-1 following their bye week after a loss to Norfolk State. Jimmyll Williams is the leading rusher for the Trojans with 210 yards on 44 attempts and three touchdowns. Starting quarterback Romelo Williams has completed 65.8 % of his passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns. Malik Hunter caught seven passes for 129 yards and Kevin Gayles caught three passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Three players have 10 or more tackles, KJ McNeil (13), Alex White (11) and Cameron Davis (10).
The Rams enter the game with a 2-1 record after beating Ohio Dominican 19-13 last week. Trevon Hester has rushed the ball 30 times for 162 yards and a touchdown. The starting quarterbacks Daylin Lee is a dual threat having 96 rushing yards and 431 yards with four total touchdowns. Myles Dillon has nine receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. Defensively three Rams have 20 or more tackle Justin Fleming (23), Dante Bowlding (21) and Jamieson Alston (20).
The teams last met in 2017 where the Trojans emerged victorious 33-27. The game will be televised by HBCU Go at 1 p.m.
