Ettrick, Va (March 31, 2024)- The Virginia State University women's tennis team split a pair of matches with a 6-1 win over Elizabeth City State and a 2-5 loss to University of District Columbia.

In the ECSU game the Trojans won all three doubles matches with Ginger Johnson, Damita Bollers, Alexice Burrows, Alexis Seymore and Jayce Gaither all picking up a sweep in the singles matches.

Then in the UDC the firebirds swept the doubles with Johnson winning her singles match in three sets (1-6, 6-4, 1-0) and Gaither winning her singles match after her opponent retired.

The team will welcome Virginia Union to campus on Saturday April 6 and then head to Marymount University on Sundat April 7.
