ARLINGTON, VA - Virginia State University Men's Tennis was able to secure a singles match point but fell to the Saints 4-1 on Thursday morning.
Final Score: Trojans 1 – Saints 4
How It Happened: Melvin Cooper earned the first victory of his collegiate career when he bested Garrett Peck in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 10-4) at the No.5 singles.
Jalen Felix and
Justin Brown-Russell battled at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles slot, respectively. However, Marymount secured wins by the scores of 6-0, 6-1 against Felix and 6-0, 6-2 against Brown-Russell.
The Saints secured the doubles point 6-0, on both the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, the last doubles spot was not played.
The Trojans finished the 2023 season with an 0-10 record.
