ETTRICK, VA- The Trojans ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday afternoon as Barton College defeated Virginia State, 13-0.

The Trojans dropped to an 18-22 overall record.

How It Happened: Barton opened the game with four runs in the first inning and then added three more in the fourth and six in the eighth and final inning.Â
The Trojans logged five hits fromÂ
Markeefe Beckett,
Liam Simpson,
Christian Henderson,
Bryce Wilmoth, and
Avante Banks.
Virginia State had a runner in scoring position on four different occasions, but were unable to get home.
Following his single to right center field, Simpson stole second base. Henderson had a seventh-inning double to left center field.
Banks got into scoring position twice, managing to advance to third base, following his single and a pair of groundouts in the sixth inning and in the eighth, Beckett's single moved Banks to second base.Â
While the Trojans struggled, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize and finish strong with six runs coming in the eighth inning.Â
Up Next: The Trojans will hit the road to play a three-game series against Salem University in Salem, WV on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and a single contest at noon on Sunday, April 30.
