Game 1 3-2
The Trojans baseball team earned a weekend sweep of Claflin University.
In the series opener, the Trojans found themselves down 2-0 headed to bottom of fifth inning. Liam Simpson knocked in Ryan Messer to cut the lead to 1. Ricky Jones followed that by knocking in Bryce WIlmoth. With the game tied 2-2 it came down to the wire, with Trojans taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single Ricky Jones. The game was tied at two with Trojans batting in the bottom of the seventh. David Johnson would lead off the inning with a single. After a walk and another single by Liam Simpson, Jones came to bat. Ricky singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Johnson for the 3-2 walkoff victory. Haskings earned the win struck out six to improve to 4-1 on the year. The hurler went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six. Trojans racked up seven hits on the day. Liam Simpson and Jones each racked up multiple hits for Trojans. Simpson led the Trojans with three hits in four at bats. Â
Game 2 14-2
The Trojans bats exploded for ten runs in the third inning to cruise to a 14-2 win in game 2 of the double header. Trojans offense in the inning was led by Ryan Messer, David Johnson, and Avante Banks, who all drove in runs.
Christian Henderson led the Trojans to victory on the hill. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three. Christian joined the rotation after an injury to Ace Robert Hatcher and is currently holding on to a 3-0 record.Â

The Trojans totaled 11 hits. Hammond, Banks, and Messer each racked up multiple hits for Trojans. Messer, Banks, and Hammond all had two hits to lead the Trojans. Messer and Banks carried big bats for the Trojans as they both had three RBIs apiece.Â

Game 3 5-1
The Trojans finished off the 3 game sweep with a 5-1 win on Sunday. Tahraun Hammond got the start for the series finale. After giving up a leadoff hit, Hammond had a strong mound presence as he only allowed 1 more hit through the complete game win. Virginia State entered the third inning trailing 1-0. Hammond helped out his cause by driving in Avante Banks to tie the game. A bases loaded walk in the fourth inning game the Trojans their first lead of the game at 2-1.Courtsey of RBI hits by Ricky Jones and Dawsyn Hock the Trojans tacked on 2 more runs in the 5th as they pulled away for good.Â
Hammond earned the victory on the mound for Trojans going all nine innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out eight. Trojans collected 12 hits on the day. Hammond, Jones, Banks, Jackson, and Hock each managed multiple hits for Trojans. Trojans didn't commit a single error in the field. Trojans stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Jones led the way with two.
The Trojans will return to action at home Saturday at 1pm vs Lincoln University for a Doubleheader.
