Box Score ETTRICK, Va. - The Virginia State Women's Tennis team gave First-Year Head Coach Chavez Mabry his first Trojan victory after taking down Bowie State 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
During doubles competition, the Trojans took a 1-0 lead into singles competition. Anijah Burgo and Ginger Johnson were unfortunately defeated on the first court 6-2 but Makensie Pago and Jaylyn Jones made up for it with a 6-3 win on court two. Ashleigh Charles and Jayce Gaither were able to win by default on court three to give the Trojans the 1-0 lead.
 
The Trojans were led by Jayce Gaither and Jaylyn Jones as their straight set wins in singles play clinched the Trojans first win of the season. Jayce Gaither earned her first win of the season 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth position whileJaylyn Jones defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth position.
