The Short Story: The Trojans were unable to turn their hits into runs after leading the category 9-8. VSU held a slim lead for just one inning. NVL scored five runs from innings five through seven.
FIRST GLANCE
- Junior Bryce Wilmoth went 2-of-3 with a double from the batter's box driving in a game-high three runs.
- Graduate Student and newcomer Liam Simpson went 2-of-2 while scoring two runs. He also stole a pair of bases in his efficient outing.
- Sophomore Tahraun Hammond added a pair of hits including a double in his four plate appearances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets took a 1-0 lead after taking advantage of a bases loaded, no outs situation in the top of the first inning.
- Bryce Wilmoth was able to drive Liam Simpson in to score to tie the ball game at one in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Hornets would regain the lead with an RBI single to make the score just 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning.
- With Morris Ford, Jr. and Liam Simpson standing on second and third, Bryce Wilmoth brought them both in with a double to give the Trojans their first lead of the ball game 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, NVU would tie it up at three all after an error by the VSU shortstop. Later that inning, the Hornets would take back the lead 4-3 after an RBI single.
- NVU went on to extend their lead to 5-3 after another RBI single by the Hornets in the top of the sixth inning.
- When presented the opportunity in the top of he seventh inning, the Hornets added a couple of insurance runs scoring on a ground out a batter before scoring on a RBI single to make the score 7-3.

The Short Story: After a hot start for the Hornets,
Christian Henderson led his team to a victory after sending 10 batters packing in his first career outing as a pitcher.
FIRST GLANCE
- Graduate Student Liam Simpson has officially found his stroke as the former division one football player went 3-of-5 with a double from the plate while scoring a run in the win.
- Freshman Norman Jackson went 2-of-3 while driving in a run along with scoring one and drawing a walk. Jackson also accounted for a stolen base in the contest as well.
- Senior Dawsyn Hock went 1-of-2 with an RBI from the plate.
- In his first ever pitching outing Christian Henderson saw 10 innings of work and sent 10 batters back to the dugout while giving away just one run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The beginning of game two started about how the end of game one went as NVU was able to take a quick 3-0 lead after a walk and two consecutive batters were hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning.
- The Trojans immediately struck back after Norman Jackson drew a bases loaded walk. Justis Crawley would cause Ricky Jones to come across after an RBI single to make it 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning.
- After four scoreless innings, Norman Jackson come around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Bryce Wilmoth which ties the ball game at 3 all. Avante Banks then laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt to score Justis Crawley to give the Trojans their first lead of the game 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- With no outs and the bases loaded, the Hornets were able to push across another run on an RBI single to knot the score at 4 all. In the same play, Bryce Wilmoth was able to throw out a runner attempting to advance to home for the go ahead run.
- In the bottom of 10th, Dawsyn Hock put hit cape on and put his team on his back as he drove in the winning run which was Liam Simpson on an RBI single to take to lead 5-4.

The Trojans will prepare for another home stand against Mansfield on Saturday and Sunday March 4 and 5. The matchup will feature doubleheaders on both days starting at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. both days.
