Women's Volleyball Senior
Kayla Taylor was named the valedictorian of the Spring Class of 2022.
This makes the second year in a row Head Coach
Amanda Walker's volleyball team has had a student-athlete named valedictorian of their class (
Ashanti Day, 2021 Spring Class).

As a Mass Communications major, Taylor maintained her perfect 4.0 academic career alongside a four-year playing career on the Trojans Women's Volleyball team. Over her athletic career, she was named co-captain of the 2021 volleyball team and received the Coaches Award in the 2022 Trojan Choice Awards. Taylor was also in charge of creating content for the Virginia State Volleyball team's Instagram account.Â

The Seattle, WA native was a senior executive of the Sports Management Majors club. Heralded for her work ethic and dedication through her Virginia State career, Taylor was named to the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar First Team. Taylor was a D2 ADA 2020-2021 Academic Achievement Award recipient.Â

Taylor was a member of the prestigious Blue Academic Team Award all her years at Virginia State University. In addition, she was the highest ranked student in the department of Mass Communications during her time at VSU.

Kayla Taylor was a part of the Trojan Activities Board as well as VSU's Honors College.
After her final season of volleyball, Taylor interned with the Virginia State University Sports Communications department where she excelled in PA announcing, statistical research, social media posts along with a host of other duties within department.Â
Taylor looks to accept a full-time position with a tech based company out of Portland, Oregon called OpenSesame.Â
Kayla Taylor has been a model student-athlete throughout the entirety of her existence at VSU and is a great representation of the Institutions mantra "Greater Happens Here" at Virginia State University.
