Ettrick, VA – The Virginia State Men's Tennis team will look to earn their first win of the season in their last home outing against UVA-Wise (5-17). VSU will face the Cavaliers Friday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex.
Virginia State (0-8) is fresh off a hard fought loss to Norfolk State 6-1 a day ago.
Alan Diggs came away victorious on the fifth singles court in a tiebreaker. Joshua Pologne was just four points away from his second win of the season but fell short on the fourth singles court.
UVA-Wise has had a rough go of things so far this season as they have been shutout in their last 11 matches. That being said, the Cavaliers have a pair of shutouts under their belt as well. UVA-Wise won four games straight prior to going on a losing streaks of four and 11 matches. The Trojans are up 1-0 in the series record after winning the inaugural match 5-1 in 2019. John Robert Kilgore holds the best record on the team as he stands tall at 2-10 playing on court five and six in singles. John Robert Kilgore and Conner Giza have proven to be the most effective in doubles with a record of 1-7.
