Ettrick, VA – The Virginia State Men's Tennis team will host Shaw (0-5) at the VSU Tennis Complex on Friday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m.
Virginia State (0-1) is coming off a rough 7-0 loss to Chowan at home on Tuesday, March 22. Laurance Britt and Nigel Stewart were able to take three games off their opponents but fell 6-3 on court #1 in doubles. On court #1, Nigel Stewart had a competitive match against Chowan's #1 player as he was nearly able to push the match to a third set yet, lost 6-1 and 7-5. Joshua Pologne took two games off his opponent but went on to lose 6-2 and 6-0.
Shaw has had a rough go of things so far this season after losing three of their five matches 7-0. In the month of March, the Bears have witnessed steady improvement as they lost 5-2 to Averett and 4-3 to Benedict their last time out. In matches dating back to 2012, the Trojans are 0-17 against Shaw. The Trojans have been competitive in the matches, as they have only been swept four times in 17 matches.
