ETTRICK, VA – The Trojans were able to steal the last victory of the four-game series against Davis & Elkins. The Trojans dropped the doubleheader on Saturday and split the doubleheader on Sunday.
Game 1
The bottom of the first inning started off with
Ricky Jones earning the first hit of the ball game as he tripled to bring
Tahraun Hammond in to score. In the top of the third inning, The Trojans allowed the Senators to get on the board due to a ball getting passed catcher to make the score 1-1. The Senators scored another run in the top of the third inning to give DEU their first lead of the game at 2-1. The Senators were able to add onto their lead in the top of the fifth inning after scoring two more runs to bring the score to 4-1. The Senators found heat again as they accounted for three hits, which led to two, runs. While VSU was able to get movement on the base path's, a line drive to the first baseman which, doubled up
Thomas Chandler and ended the game with the score at 6-1.

Game 2
Like the previous matchup, the Trojans got on the board first on a wild pitch in which
Ricky Jones capitalized on to make the score 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Both squads played stellar defense through the next four innings before Davis & Elkins broke the seal on their side of the scoreboard to tie the game at one with an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning. After drawing a walk to start the inning,
Tahraun Hammond scored on an RBI single into left field off the bat of
Ricky Jones. Jones would later come around to score on a passed ball to make the score 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Senators immediately responded with two runs on their own in consecutive at-bats to knot the game at three in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, DEU pushed across two runs on a bases loaded single. After a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the seventh, the Senators took the 5-3 victory on day one.

Game 3
The game started with the Trojans pitching rotation having control issues as three consecutive walks led to three DEU runs in the top of the first inning to make the score 3-0. The Trojans also started the game hot offensively as well as
Chase Moore and
Ryan Messer produced back-to-back singles to make the score 3-2 in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning,
Chase Moore earned his second RBI of the game driving in
Ricky Jones to knot the score at three. In the top of the sixth inning, the Senators produced the biggest hit of the game which was a single into right field which brought in two runs to make the score 5-3. After two scoreless innings for the Trojans, the final score remained at 5-3.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Trojans looked like a team hungry for a win as

Dawsyn Hock came through with a powerful line drive to score
Joshua Tayman and
Chase Moore to make the score 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning. The top of the third inning, Davis & Elkins fought back with a run in the top of the third to make it 4-1. The Senators made a strong push for the lead in the top of the fifth inning scoring two runs to make the score 4-3. Feeling the pressure,
Emmett Jefferson scorched a ball into right field to bring
Chase Moore in to score.
Christian Henderson singled to score Jefferson to make the score 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the sixth inning, VSU added insurance runs as
Jaylen Lovett drove in
Tahraun Hammond.
Jaylen Lovett later came around to score as
Dawsyn Hock drove him in on a single up the middle to make the score 8-3 heading into the top of the seventh inning. Down but far from out, the Senators found a way to drive in two runs on a double. With two outs,
Tahraun Hammond got the strike out to end the game with the score at 8-5.
