ETTRICK, VA- Virginia State University Department of Athletics welcomes their new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA),
Felicia Johnson, to the Trojan family to jump start the 2021-2022 athletic season.
"I am excited about this new journey, what it has to bring and being a new member of VSU Trojan family," said Johnson. "I am thankful that VSU Athletics has afforded me the opportunity to continue to serve the student-athletes."
Prior to her arrival to VSU, Johnson was on staff at Virginia Union University (VUU) since 2007. While at VUU, Johnson was at the helm of the VUU Athletics Department making history as the first female Athletic Director at the institution. Before entering the Athletic Director role, Johnson served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and SWA at VUU.

Johnson's intricate knowledge of compliance and the CIAA makes her a perfect fit for position.

Peggy Davis. "Her 14 years of experience at the Division II level and the area of compliance brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Virginia State University and the Department of Athletics."
Accumulating numerous accolades and holding an executive board position on several CIAA and NCAA committees, Johnson was awarded the CIAA Senior Woman Administrator of the Year honor in 2008-2009 and 2017-2018.
The Mappsville, Va. native is a 2003 honors graduate of Virginia Union University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. During her undergraduate tenure at VUU, Johnson lettered in volleyball, softball and bowling; alongside earned All-CIAA honors in softball.
In 2007, Johnson earned her Master of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Sports Leadership. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
