ETTRICK, VA - The VSU Trojan football team are preparing for their first road trip of the season to take on the the Panthers of Ohio Dominican University. The game will kick-off on September 11, 2021 at 1:00pm at Panthers Stadium.
The Trojans are coming off a 48-7 week one loss at the hands of #4 Lenoir - Rhyne University moving VSU to an 0-1 overall record. The Panthers will be entering the contest with an 0-1 overall record as well, after taking a tough week one loss to Shepard University, 35-30.Â
This is the first ever meeting between Virginia State and Ohio Dominican.
Leading the Trojans offensively is redshirt - freshman running back
Kimo Clarke.Clarke led the rushing attack for the Trojans with four carries for 54-yards scoring a 47-yard touchdown his first touch as Trojan. The VSU offense will be under the command of either redshirt sophomore,
Mark Wright or sophomore
Jordan Davis. Wright started the game a week ago and threw for 44-yards while Davis went 6-8 through the air with 18 rushing yards in his second half mop up role. The defense is led by graduate student
Will Adams who racked up eight tackles with a tackle for loss a week ago. Senior defensive end
Javon Frazier will get after the quarterback this week as he accounted for the teams only sack along with seven total tackles against LRU. Â
For Ohio Dominican, graduate student Evan Ernest completed 65% of his passes for 263 yards and a pair of touchdown tosses his first time out this season. Ohio Dominican's redshirt - senior wide receiver James Morgan gained 105 yards against Shepard averaging 21 yards per catch and a touchdown. Senior linebacker Dauson Dales leads his team in tackles as he accounted for 14 total tackles with 1.5 of them coming behind the line of scrimmage.Â
